Solar Bubble Dryer

GrainPro, in close collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and the University of Hohenheim (UOH) Germany, introduces the Solar Bubble Dryer™ (SBD™): a modern drying innovation that minimizes the effects of unpredictable weather to commodities during its drying stage.

The SBD™ is designed to safely dry agricultural commodities against unexpected rain and other common contaminants. Its transparent polyethylene (LDPE) cover is UV and water-resistant to safeguard the commodities as it dries. It acts like a bubble that traps solar radiation to heat the commodities. Moisture is then vaporized and pushed out by ventilators (which also maintain the shape of the bubble).

The drying floor is made of a proprietary watertight material to prevent water permeation from below. The top cover and the drying floor are joined together by heavy-duty zippers.

The SBD™ can dry grains and seeds at an average drying rate of 1% MC per two (2) hours for paddy and corn. During sunny weather conditions, the drying rate could be faster than conventional sun-drying.

The SBD™ comes in two sizes. The SBD25™ has a drying area of 25m², while the SBD50™ has a drying area of 50m². They come in either solar or electric models. Solar models rely on purely solar power to run ventilator(s). It comes with a charge controller to re-charge the battery (sold separately). Alternatively, an electric-powered model can be powered by electricity from the grid.
